Review of the 4th International Symposium on
OPTRONICS IN DEFENCE AND SECURITY
After the success of the OPTRO 2002 Symposium held in January 2003, and of the International Symposium OPTRO 2005 held in May 2005, 3AF organized OPTRO 2010, the International Symposium on OPTRONICS IN DEFENCE AND SECURITY, in OECD Conference Centre in Paris, from 3 to 5 February 2010.
Objectives achieved:
The aim of this international Symposium was to presents the status on recent advances in Optronics in the fields of Defence and Security and on the perspectives that Optronics offers in the near future.
OPTRO 2010 succeeded to reach the international expected level gathering 300 engineers and scientists from government, university and industry and implementing fruitful exchanges between colleagues from 17 countries and diversified disciplines.
The importance of this conference is underlined by the participation of high profile speakers from the international institutional environments, the defence industry and strategic think-tanks.
OPTRO 2010 opened on day one with a plenary session of presentations focusing on presentations by top ranking governmental representatives and research organisations eminent personalities. Presentations related on one hand to programmes and strategy, and on the other hand to the latest research & developments in advanced Optronics.
The following two and one-a-half days of the symposium were dedicated to 136 technical presentations, organised in three parallel workshops covering the 7 following topics:
- Space
- Imaging and Systems
- Laser Sensors and Systems
- Sensors and components
- Simulation
- Signal and Imaging Processing
- Related technologies
OPTRO 2010 also hosted a table-top exhibition within the conference center offering to all attendees and 19 exhibiting companies in Optronics areas an opportunity to exchange on technical know-how and products.
